Just Curious....

What should I expect when I visit?

At South Shore, we feel that it's our responsibility to make it easy for you to come to church. We want you to be able to experience the great music, thought-provoking messages, friendly people and relaxed atmosphere that are a part of South Shore. And we know that your first time at a church, any church, brings up some questions.

What kind of music do you play?

The music of at South Shore Community Church is an expression of our joy and devotion to the Savior.  It is also an expression of the times in which the congregation has come to age.  Most music sets are carried by a guitar-based band comprised of electric lead, bass, acoustic, synthesizer or electric piano, 2 or 3 percussionists and vocals.

If you grew up listening to a stereo rather than a radio, you will like the music style at South Shore.

If you have a Flash Plugin for your browser, the sample music will start automatically. If you wish to listen to the samples with your default mp3 player, click the link to listen.

What does South Shore have for my family?

We hope to have the opportunity for the South Shore family to welcome your family next weekend. We have activities for all age groups and provide an opportunity for each family member to experience God through the Bible and other people just like you....

What if I am not sure about God and just have some questions?

You don't have to believe in God to go to church. You don't have to know anything about God or the Bible to go to church. You don't have to clean up, dress up, or "get your act together" before you arrive. Come as you are.

Each weekend we worship God and learn about Christ. Many in attendance are just checking out this church thing to see what it is about. Some turned away from church in the past and are just trying to find out if they should give God another try. Some are at the end of what they know to do and are just hoping that God still cares. Others celebrate what God has done for them.

It doesn't matter where you are on your spiritual journey or if you haven't even started it yet. You are welcome at South Shore, just as you are, with all the baggage of your life and with all of your questions. We would love to explore with you. Hope to see you this Saturday night or Sunday morning.

What do you believe?

If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. (1 Timothy 4:6)

The South Shore Community Church Statement of Faith summarizes our beliefs as a church. While our style of worship, approaches to evangelism, methods of discipleship, and avenues of ministry may seem innovative, our faith is rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ who is "the same yesterday, and today, and forever." Therefore, the sole authority for our theology, faith, and practice is Jesus Christ whose will is revealed in the Bible. The following pages contain a summary of our beliefs, along with some explanatory comments to help ...

How do you protect my child?

South Shore employs a police officer to remain on campus each Saturday night during our services. The primary responsibility of the security team is the protection of our children ...

Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything, or be singled out in any way?

If you're visiting, we hope that our service is a gift to you. If South Shore is not your home church or if you are just "kicking tires," we prefer that you not contribute any money to our offering. Our offering time allows those who call South Shore home to give back to God a portion of the financial blessings He has given to them. We will not make you wear a visitor badge, stand up to be introduced, or singled out in any way. We want you to remain as anonymous as you desire so that you can stay well within your comfort zone. Regardless of your choice to remain stealth or become more visible, we encourage you to visit our church over several weeks to see what's going on at South Shore.

Check Out the Volunteers

South Shore cares about your children. We take child security very seriously. All of our volunteers in the children areas have gone  through a personal interview by the Children's Pastor and have had a national databank background check. Our leader to child ration exceeds Florida State Standards. In fact, most rooms are staffed with four adults and a teen volunteer. We strongly enforce our policies and procedures so that your child is as safe as possible. Please contact our Journey Kids staff if you would like to review our discipline, bathroom, security or other policies.

We Leave No Child Unbanded

South Shore uses a wristband protocol for parent and child identification. Each child at check in will have a wrist band that they are required to wear. The parent who drops off the child will receive a matching wrist band that is required for pickup. Any parent who looses the wristband will need a minimum of three adults to confirm that the child they are picking up is theirs. We will not release a child to a friend, parent, or older sibling without the appropriately matched wristband. Compliance with these rules are non-negotiable.

Perimeter Patrol

During the Worship Services, we have a place for everyone. Thus it is unusual to have people, particularly children or youth, in the parking lot or outside our buildings during the service. In order to protect our children, South Shore Volunteers stroll through the campus and accompany any child or student to their appropriate location.

We Love Kids Although...

South Shore loves your kids. We love them when they are excited, sad, happy, tired, hungry, or any other emotion. However, when they are infectious, we want to pray for them and love them from a distance. We ask that if your child has any of the following that you not bring them to our children's programs:

If your child is being treated with antibiotics, he/she should be on the medication for at least 48 hours before coming to the nursery.

If your child has a continually clear-runny nose, cough or rash due to non-contagious allergies, please let us know.

We want to keep all of our children happy and healthy in our effort to serve them and you.

Officer on Site

South Shore employs a police officer to remain on campus each Saturday night during our services. The primary responsibility of the security team is the protection of our children and women.

We Can Find You!

If your child has an issue that requires your intervention, we will contact you during the service. On the screen behind the stage, a message will be broadcast that says " Will the parent of ___ please report to your child's room."
