Saturday Night's All Right
February 28th, 2006
South Shore began in April of 1993 as a small church in a living room. As God continued to draw people to South Shore, it became apparent that the church was growing beyond what could be accommodated in a home. So in February of 1994, South Shore Community Church met a Pine View School for it's first Sunday morning service.
However, just as "odd" as the church was founded, so were the circumstances that led to our "Saturday Night Church." Due to a threatened lawsuit against the Sarasota County School System by the ACLU, South Shore was forced to look for a new church home. Our five year rental of the school was deemed to exceeded the separation of church and state. Obedient and faithful, God led us to re-think where and when we held services.
In February of 2000, South Shore Community Church took the bold step of having one service on Saturday nights. With much prayer and commitment, the family of South Shore embraced the change and God has blessed His church. Five years later, Saturday Night's still all right with us.
