Parent University Volunteer
Over the summer we come together with Alta Vista to support their Summer Learning programs. This summer we are assisting with their Parent University Program. Parent University program offers classes designed to support and empower families to actively participate in their children's education. The program aims to foster student achievement through parent involvement and provides opportunities for weekly learning sessions.
Thursday Evenings in June (5th, 12th, 19th)
Volunteer Need #1 - Registration (2 volunteers each Thursday)
Registration is from 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm. Volunteers will need to arrive at 4:45 pm, and will serve for about 45 minutes.
Volunteer Need #2 - Childcare (6 volunteers each Thursday)
All children will be potty-trained. There will a variety of activities for kids including magnets, STEM building games, cards, and more. Volunteers will need to arrive at 4:45 pm, and will serve until 6:30 pm.
Eagle Fest!
Alta Vista's summer school ends with Eagle Fest on June 26th from 4pm - 7pm (volunteers arriving about 20 minutes early). As many volunteers as possible are appreciated!
The staff will need many volunteers to assist with set up, manning the inflatables, fingernail painting, handing out food, making popcorn, etc.

South Shore Students Summer Camp
July 27-31, 2025
Cost: $275 per student*
Location: Parrish, FL (DaySpring Conference Center)
*Scholarships available
Our Summer Camp is designed specifically for students who have just finished 6th-12th grade. Students who attend will be challenged in their walk with Christ and will go deeper as they worship Him.
This is an overnight camp. Our camp is not associated with DaySpring even though we are renting their facility.

Child Dedication
Child Dedication is a special ceremony where parents publicly commit to raising their child in faith, seeking God's guidance and blessing. It is a dedication of the child to God and a pledge by the parents and church community to nurture them in love, truth, and discipleship. This meaningful act reflects a desire to lead the child in a Christ-centered life, trusting in God's purpose for their future.
We will be doing a Child Dedication at every service. Sign ups have closed but if you have any questions please contact our Kids Director, Sara Fleming at sfleming@southshorechurch.com

Mission of Hope Meal Packing
What is a Meal Packing Event?
A Mission of Hope Meal Packing Event is an opportunity for our community to gather together to pack meals for kids in Haiti. Mission of Hope currently feeds over 100,000 kids a day in Haiti through a network of schools and orphanages, but they have over 70,000 more kids on a waiting list. By packing meals, we’re helping take kids off the waiting list and move them from hunger to hope!
What to Expect?
Volunteers will be divided into groups of 8-12 at tables which function as our packing stations. Your role could be filling ingredients in a bag, weighing the bag, sealing the bag, or boxing up the meals for transport to Haiti. You will be asked to wear a hairnet and some roles will wear gloves. Our Meal Packing event will be high energy and a lot of fun! We hope you’ll consider joining us.
Our Need -
2 volunteer shifts. We need a group from 10am-11:30am and a group from 12pm-1:30pm. You can sign up for either of the shifts that work best for you!

Sarasota Pregnancy Center Gala
A black tie charity event with dinner and program. Meal is complimentary. All donations received at the event will benefit Sarasota Medical Pregnancy Center.
South Shore is a huge sponsor of The Sarasota Medical Pregnancy Center.
The Awakening
The Awakening is designed specifically for students who are in 6th-12th grade. Students who attend will be challenged in their walk with Christ and will go deeper as they worship Him.
What is a lock-in? A lock-in is a 1 night retreat where we'll spend most of our time "locked in" at the church. We'll have all the normal things we'd do at a camp or retreat like worship, small groups, prayer time, etc. We'll also have lots of games and activities scattered throughout the night. On Saturday afternoon we'll take a bus to Hero's Paradise in Brandon, FL for an afternoon of laser tag, archery tag, and other fun games. https://www.heroesparadise.com/
The AWAKENING Option 1: Bring a sleeping bag and participate in the entire 29 hours of fun!
The AWAKENING Option 2: Get checked out 11pm after the second Friday night session. Come back Saturday morning at 8am for breakfast.
Neighborhood Work Day
Join us for our first Neighborhood Work Day of the year! Quarterly we come together to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community! We’ll be working on meaningful projects all across our city, spreading love and kindness where it’s needed most.
